Students of the fourth cohort of the dual degree master program WMD Nonproliferation, Nuclear Policy and Global Security, which is run jointly by The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS), Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), and PIR Center, started their studies at MGIMO University in September.

Biography :

Candidate of Technical Sciences. Until 2011 he was Deputy director of the Department of international collaboration, the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency. Previously, deputy Head of the Department of External Affairs JSC Atomstroyexport. Graduated from D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology in Russia and Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, holds degree of PhD. Worked as a head of department, pro-rector for scientific research of East-Siberian State Technologic University. Participated in elimination of accident consequences on Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986. From 1994 worked for Russian MFA, headed the sector of IAEA in its Permanent Mission in Russia attached to international organizations in Vienna, former Head of Nuclear Security department, nonproliferation of nuclear weapons and international partnership in peaceful use of atomic energy of the Department for Security Affairs and Disarmament, MFA of Russia. Participated in development of the important international agreements in the field of nuclear nonproliferation and security. PIR Center Advisory Board member since 2009. Member of the PIR Center EKS Working Group on International Cooperation in Mass Destruction Weapon Nonproliferation and Physical Nuclear Safety since 2012.
