Dr. Bryan Wells joined the Ministry of Defence in 1988. He served as Assistant Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Defence 1989-1992, and held a range of other posts, including Deputy Director of NATO Policy 1997-1999. Following a secondment to the Lord Chancellor's Department (now Department of Constitutional Affairs) as Head of Administrative Justice in 1999-2002, he took up the post of Director, Counter-Proliferation and Arms Control at the MOD in August 2002. His responsibilities include policy on arms control treaties and export regimes, PSI, and particular countries of proliferation concern; he is also UK Commissioner to UNMOVIC.
