Biography :

Marc Cadisch studied pharmacy at the University of Bern. He obtained his doctorate in organic chemistry from the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ). Before becoming director of the SPIEZ LABORATORY he worked in private industry. During this time, he continued his further education at the University of St. Gallen, where he was awarded the "Executive MBA HSG". In 2002, he was appointed as the director of the SPIEZ LABORATORY. He assumed this post on 1st April 2003.

Biography :

President of the Ploughshares Fund. Cirincione had previously served as Vice President for National Security and International Policy at the Center for American Progress in Washington, DC, and for eight years as the director for nonproliferation at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is the author of Bomb Scare: The History and Future of Nuclear Weapons (2007) and Deadly Arsenals: Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Threats (2006). He is on the adjunct faculty of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, where he teaches in the Master of Science in Foreign Service Program, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He has written over 200 articles on defense issues, produced two DVDs on proliferation, appears frequently in the media, and has given over 150 lectures around the world in the past two years. He is the author of Bomb Scare: The History and Future of Nuclear Weapons (Columbia University Press, Spring 2007). He is the co-author of Contain and Engage: A New Strategy for Resolving the Iranian Nuclear Crisis (March 2007), two editions of Deadly Arsenals: Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Threats (2005 and 2002), Universal Compliance: A Strategy for Nuclear Security (March 2005) and WMD in Iraq, (January 2004). He has held positions at the Henry L. Stimson Center, the U.S. Information Agency, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is an honors graduate of Boston College and holds a Masters of Science with highest honors from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. He is happily married with two children. Leading expert on international security issues, including energy security and arms control. His name and numerous publications on strategic armaments, tactical nuclear weapons, anti-missile defense, and missile warning systems are well known both in Russia and abroad. Headed the team of authors and wrote several chapters in the UNDP's annual Human Development Reports for the Russian Federation. Professor at MGIMO. Johnson, Rebecca image

PhD.  With a background in physics, an MA in Far Eastern studies and a PhD in international relations, she has monitored treaty developments, including the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) from 1994 to the present. With a varied background that has included grassroots activism, campaign organising and consultancy work for the United Nations, the European Union and other government bodies, she was senior advisor for the International WMD (Blix) Commission 2004-06 and is currently Vice Chair of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). She also serves as a special advisor to various international organisations.The United Nations in May 2009 published her book on civil society and government strategies to achieve the CTBT, titled Unfinished Business. Colonel General (Ret.), one of the founders of Russia's programs for international cooperation in the dismantlement of surplus armaments, an accomplishment recognized by the award of several government honors, including the Order of the Red Star, Order for Service to the Fatherland, and many medals. A leading expert on nuclear security, nuclear weapons reductions, and verification mechanisms. Laureate of the Russian State Prize. Worked in USSR/Russian Ministry of Defense organizations for more than 40 years, including from 1992-1997 as head of the Russian Ministry of Defense 12th Main Directorate, which is responsible for the security of nuclear munitions. Author of many publications in Russian and English, including articles on nuclear security, the Cooperative Threat Reduction program, and nuclear nonproliferation.

Guy Mettan is journalist, artist and Swiss politician, member of PDC. He was a director and editor-in-chief of Tribune de Genève in 1992. In 1996, Guy Mettan created "Business Club Romand" in Zurich. In 1998 Mr. Mettan presided "le Fondation EMA" whose goal is to provide South countries with a better access to capitals, technologies and international markets and "Association ASEMA". In the same year, Tribune de Genève being purchased by the Edipresse group, Guy Mettan left his post. He started a career of a politician and gets the post of city counselman of Geneva in 1999. In 2001 Mr. Mettan was appointed vice-presedent of the Swiss-West Africa Chamber of Commerce, and in 2005 of the Swiss-Russian Joint Chambers of Commerce (JCC), and president of the Geneva Red Cross in 2006. Dr. Vladimir A. Orlov is expert in international security and Russia’s foreign policy. His research areas include major threats and challenges to international security, primarily, nuclear nonproliferation.

Dr. Orlov founded PIR Center, a private think-tank dealing with global security and foreign policy, in 1994 and was the institute’s Director (President) until April 2015 when he decided to step down as PIR Center’s CEO while remaining on Center’s Executive Board and concentrating on specific nuclear nonproliferation and other projects. Dr. Orlov is a member of the Trialogue Club International, which he founded in 1993. He is the founder (in 2006) of the Centre russe d'etudes politiques, a Geneva-based research and consultancy association. Honorary member (Membre d’Honneur) of the Centre russe detudes politiques. Member of the UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters (till 2019).

Cosimo Risi was born 1951, in Salerno, Italy. Cosimo Risi is Permanent Representative to the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. Minister Plenipotentiary at the Italian Misnitry of Foreign Affairs he previously worked as Head of Unit for the External Relations to EU and WTO at the Directorate General for Multilateral Economic and Financial Cooperation of the Italian MFA, and as responsible for the European Neighbourhood Policy at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union, and lately as Italian Coordinator of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. Mr. Risi teached International Relations at the Institut Supérieur du Management Public et Politique in Brussels and is now adjunct professor of International Relations at University of Salerno and at the European College of Parma. He also teaches International Cooperation at the University of Trieste and is Coordinator of the editorial board of “Europae”, Quarterly of European Affairs. In september 2013 Cosimo Risi became an Ambassador of italy to Switzeralnd.

Author of 180 scientific papers in ten languages, six monographs, including "Terrorism in Asymmetrical Conflict" (Oxford Univ. Press, 2008). Her book “The Role of Illicit Drug Business in the Political Economy of Conflicts and Terrorism” (Moscow, 2005) has won the medal for young scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences. Serves on editorial boards of the following journals: "Global Governence", "Terrorism and Political Violence" (St Andrews Univesity, UK), "The International Journal on Conflict and Violence", "Security Index" (PIR Center), and "The road to peace and security". Ambassador Gérard Stoudmann studied law at the University of Lausanne and International Relations at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. At the beginning of career Gérard Stoudmann served as Personal Adviser to Jean-Pascal Delamuraz, President of the Swiss Confederation and Minister of Economy. Later Gérard Stoudmann was Managing Director of the St-Gallen Foundation for International Studies, University of St-Gallen and of the “St-Gallen International Management Symposium”. In 1997, Gérard Stoudmann was appointed Ambassador and elected Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Warsaw.
