Researcher of the Center for Global Problems and International Organizations of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Graduated from the Faculty of the International Relations of the Urals Federal University. Holds specialist degree in regional studies and simultaneous interpreter diploma. Biography :

Graduate of the Faculty of International Relations of the Ural Federal University. He has been working at the PIR Center since September 2019. He has held the positions of intern, consultant. He completed an internship at Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Yekaterinburg in the summer of 2018.

A participant in the Writing and Science school for young nonproliferation experts (organized by Ural Federal University with the support of the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority) and the PIR Center course at the Ural Federal University "The future of global security and nuclear nonproliferation". He is a grant specialist in Young Middle East Researchers Association (Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg).

His research interests include NATO nuclear sharing arrangements, nuclear nonproliferation regime, nuclear weapon ban campaign.

Oleg Demidov graduated from the School of Public Administration at Moscow State University of Lomonosov in 2010. Currently, Oleg has been working on his Ph.D thesis at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University). In 2011-2012, he held the position of Project Coordinator at Center for Political and International Studies (CPIS) under the International Federation for Peace and Conciliation. Since 2012, he has served as an expert to the Commission on Information Security and Cybercrime at the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC). In 2013-2014, he held the position of Director of the Program International Information Security and Global Internet Governance at PIR Center. 

Since 2011 Oleg has been participating in the international project “A Twenty-First Century Concert of Powers” conducted by Frankfurt Peace Research Institute (PRIF) (through 2014). He is the author of a number of research articles on information security, cybersecurity, and global internet governance in PIR Center’s Security Index journal and other editions. Oleg serves as the Secretary of the Working Group on International Information Security and Global Internet Governance under PIR Center Advisory Board. In March 2014 Oleg became a member of the Research Advisory Network (RAN) under the Global Commission on Internet Governance (CGIG). PIR Center Advisory Board member since 2015.

In 1990, he graduated from MGIMO University. He worked in the Foreign Ministry of the USSR/Russia, in the Moscow News newspaper.

In 2000-2002, he studied the Management in the Military-Technical Cooperation course at the Russian Foreign Trade Academy.  Since 1994 he is a Research Fellow at the PIR Center.

He is a Research fellow at the Russian Diplomatic Academy, Member of the Expert Council on the International Humanitarian Law of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, participant of the International Panel on the Regulation of Autonomous Weapons Systems (IPRAW), participant of the Russian-American Dartmouth dialogue.

His research interests include military artificial intelligence, new military technologies, arms control, military-technical cooperation of Russia with other countries, NATO-Russia relations, Central Asia and Afghanistan, illegal arms trade, cybersecurity.

He has more than 300 publications on international security issues.
