Biography :

Graduated from Moscow Combined Arms Command School in 1971 and assumed command over a platoon (later, company and battalion) with the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany. In 1979, he earned a degree at Frunze Military Academy and reported to the then Transbaikal Military District as deputy regiment commander, deputy division commander, motorized rifle division commander. In 1993, graduated from the General Staff Academy and was appointed as Chief of Staff, Russian Joint Forces in Tajikistan, and later was assigned to Volga Military District as the Chief of Staff. In 1998 he took up the post as Land and Seashore Force Commander at the Baltic Fleet. In 1999 he assumed the duties as First Deputy Commander in Moscow Military District, in 2002 – as Commander in Siberian Military District. In 2005 he was promoted to his present rank of General of the Army. In 2007 he was appointed as Chief of the Armament for the Russian Armed Forces, Deputy Minister of Defense. In 2008-2012 - Chief of the Russian General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation.

Dr. Makarychev was born in 1965. He graduated Nizhy Novgorod State University in 1989 and the European Institute of High International Studies in Nizza (France) in 1994. He has lectured at American, Azerbaijani, Baltic, Bulgarian, British, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Georgian, NATO, Russian and South African defence colleges and universities. In 1987 he has got MA with the thesis on Soviet policy towards Southern Africa in University of Leiden (the Netherlands). In 2004 – PhD (thesis on Russia's security policy and airpower) in University of Amsterdam. He is an author of more than 150 publications on defense and national security policy.

In 2014 Mikhail Margelov was appointed Vice President of Transneft, JSC. Representative of the Pskov Region Administration to the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly. Born in 1972 in Rostov-on-Don. In 1995 he graduated with honors the faculty of history of the Rostov State University, and in 1998 he finished his postgraduate studies there. He defended his doctoral thesis in the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1999; member of the Russian Union of Journalists (since 1998). Dr. Markedonov is the author of two books, 200 articles and over 300 media publications on sociopolitical development of the Caucasus, problems of interethnic relations and conflicts, religious situation in the Caucasus and in the postSoviet space. His articles were published in Izvestia, Moscovskiye Novosti, Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Politichesky Zhurnal, Znamya, Novy Mir, Apologiya. He has a substantial field experience in the North and South Caucasus (visits to conflict zones and unrecognized republics).

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Eugene Miasnikov was graduated from the Department of Aerophysics and Space Research of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) in 1985. In 1989 he got his Ph. Degree in Physics from MIPT. His dissertation was devoted to the problem of polarized laser light propagation in ocean water. Subsequently, until the end of 1991, he worked in the Scientific Production Association "ELAS" (Zelenograd) as an expert in remote sensing of the ocean from airborne and space platforms. In 1992, Eugene was a visiting fellow at the Defense and Arms Control Studies Program (currently, Security Studies Program) of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied current state-of-the-art of submarine detection and its impact on strategic stability in the world. Since 1992 Evgene Miasnikov has been working in the Center for Arms Control, Energy and Environmental Studies, and an active participant of the Center's research projects. In 2011 Eugene was elected the Director of the Center. PIR Center Advisory Board member since 2011. Member of the Sustainable Partnership with Russia (SuPR) Group since 2013.

After graduating the Department of Economics of the Moscow State University in 1994, Dr. Mitrova worked in consulting firms dealing with energy issues. Since 1998 she joined the Institute of Energy Research, where in 2006 she was appointed head of the center. Tatiana Mitrova is a member of the regional study group on energy scenarios of the World Energy Council, the Program Committee B (Strategy, Economics, and Regulation) of the International Gas Union and takes part in the work of the group on foreign economic activities and international cooperation of the Russian Gas Society. In 2006 she was a member of the Energy Safety and Security Group of the G8 Organizational Committee. Dr. Mitrova is the author of more than 30 articles on energy issues. Major research
areas are analysis of the development of global energy markets and exportimport policy of Russia in this area.

He served as a U.S. Senator from Georgia from 1972 to 1996. Nunn attended Georgia Tech, Emory University and Emory Law School, where he graduated with honors in 1962. After active duty service in the U.S. Coast Guard, he served six years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He first entered politics as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives in 1968. During his tenure in the U.S. Senate, Nunn served as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. He also served on the Intelligence and Small Business Committees. His legislative achievements include the landmark Department of Defense Reorganization Act, drafted with the late Senator Barry Goldwater, and the Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction Program, which provides assistance to Russia and the former Soviet republics for securing and destroying their excess nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. In addition to his work with NTI, Nunn has continued his service in the public policy arena as a distinguished professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech and as chairman of the board of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC.
