MOSCOW, JULY 25, 2014. PIR PRESS – “I would like to express my extreme gratitude for your efforts to integrate ongoing PIR Center research into the educational process at MGIMO. The joint module on nuclear nonproliferation that was organized in 2013 generated lively and interested responses from students and demonstrated great potential for future cooperation. We hope that the grounds we created will serve as a foundation for the opening of full-fledged educational programs,” – Rector of MGIMO University Anatoly Vasilyevich Torkunov.

In 2014, PIR Center celebrated its 20th anniversary. Founded in 1994, our organization remains one of the most authoritative Russian research institutes in the sphere of international security. For two decades, PIR Center has stressed the importance of promoting the development of young researchers’ scientific potential.  Therefore, we are especially pleased to receive congratulations for our 20th anniversary from the Rector of MGIMO University Anatoly Vasilyevich Torkunov and from the Dean of the Department of International Relations at Saint Petersburg State University Irina Nikolaevna Novikova.

In a letter addressed to PIR Center President Vladimir Orlov, Anatoly Torkunov writes: “Dear Vladimir Andreevich! On behalf of MGIMO-University, I sincerely congratulate you and all of your colleagues at PIR Center on your 20th anniversary! PIR Center has managed to become the leading expert-analytical organization in Russia on issues of international security and the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons.  The highly professional work of PIR Center analysts makes a significant contribution to the development of applied scientific research on strategically important international problems.

Furthermore, I would like to express my extreme gratitude for your efforts to integrate ongoing PIR Center research into the educational process at MGIMO University.
