International School on Global Security 2020 extends applications deadline

MOSCOW. MATCH 30, 2020. PIR-PRESS. – The Anniversary XX PIR Center International School on Global Security 2020 extends applications deadline to April 13. The School will take place from 6 to 14 June in Zvenigorod, Moscow region.

The Anniversary XX PIR Center International School for the young specialists is to be held from 6 to 14 June 2020.

The PIR Center International School on Global Security is a unique platform where young politicians, diplomats, military and civil servants, journalists, scholars, and students expand the scope of their professional knowledge and further their education. The School is intended for those who strive to build expertise and improve professional skills and contribute to a more secure world.
 
The School is an excellent opportunity for those who are studying Russia and the Russian language abroad for a deep immersion in a linguistic, cultural and professional environment established by leading Russian experts in the field of international relations.

Key topics for the International School 2020:

- WMD nonproliferation and nuclear threat reduction – global and regional agenda. Future of the NPT. WMD in the Middle East. North Korea and security in East Asia. The Iran deal.

- New challenges of chemical and biological safety. Future of the CWC, OPCW and BWC.

- Arms control and new arms race. START, INF, missile defence, weapons in outer space.

- Digital transformation, global Internet governance, information security and cyber security.

- Emerging technologies – real and mythical opportunities and threats (artificial intelligence, lethal autonomous weapons).

- International law in new technological and political realities.

- New trends in terrorism and military conflicts.

- Russia and its neighbors, Europe, Middle East, Central Asia and Afghanistan.

- Russian foreign policy and defence priorities. Russia and the West. Russia and the East. Russia and the World.

To participate in the International School 25 diplomats, officers, young politicians, civil servants, international relations scholars, journalists, graduate students, undergraduate from the CIS countries, Europe, USA, the countries of SCO and BRICS will be invited.

Working language of the School is Russian. Participants should be fluent in both Russian and English.

The deadline for the submission of applications is extended to April 13, 2020.
