Sergey Ryabkov visited the PIR Center School

ZVENIGOROD, OCTOBER 9, 2020. PIR PRESS. “It is always a pleasure for me to participate in the PIR Center School, I think it is the best format in terms of rich discussions on topical issues of international agenda that directly relate to our country’s position in the world", ‒ Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The sixth day of the School was marked by the visit of Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with his lecture “The future of global security: challenges for Russia and the world”. In his welcoming speech, the diplomat noted the high level of discussion and professionalism of participants, and that the School has served as an indispensable platform for training young experts on global security and nuclear nonproliferation for many years.

The diplomat noted that the pandemic, instead of uniting countries, on the contrary, had a negative impact on international cooperation, and in the field of security was not the exception. There is a phenomenon of increasing power in international relations, a growing need for reform of global governance institutions, and a crisis in the system of international cooperation in the field of arms control and nonproliferation. The collapse and disappearance of many parts of this system seemed unthinkable until recently. During his speech, Sergey Ryabkov outlined Russia's approaches to ensuring international security and strategic stability. For example, during the discussion with the audience, the Deputy Minister highlighted the key aspects of BRICS development, the problems of Russia's relations with its CSTO allies, and the future of the New START after its expiration.

According to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, his long-lasting cooperation with the PIR Center fuels him with ideas and alternative creative views on international security issues, which it supervises on duty.
