If we are negotiating with the West that does not mean that our position regarding western dominance and interference in the Middle East has changed. Iran is not willing to give up its independent politics for any price. Iran’s eight-year resistance during a forcible war and its firmness in the question of peaceful use of nuclear energy are examples of such an Iranian approach. Resistance and evasion of sanctions are a witness to the independence of Iran. If Iran were to rely on the West, then we could not endure western pressure,” –  Seyed Alinaghi (Kamal) Kharrazi, the Head of the Strategic Council of Public Relations under the administration of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The latest issue of the Security Index journal is partly devoted to the development of the global nuclear energy sector and nuclear infrastructure. Against the backdrop of the oil-and-gas needle and amid the continued devaluation of the Russian currency, the Russian nuclear energy sector seems to offer what may well be the only tangible, comprehensive, and carefully thought-out answer to economic upheavals. “We are glad to present to you the first issue of PIR Center’s information-analytical bulletin, Yaderny Kontrol, in an updated format. After 457 issues, it seemed difficult to come up with something new, but we still dared to experiment with the form and content – the result is before you.  In “Nuclear Dossier” we gathered the most important news from the past month, the section “Opinions” provides actual first-hand information, and “Analysis” examines key issues in depth,” – Andrey Baklitskiy, Editor of the Yaderny Kontrol bulletin.

“Our technology is proven to be of a high, reliable quality.  Our partners are no less interested in us than we are in them.  The age of nuclear energy facilities is extending; it will soon reach 100 plus years – much longer than any particular trend in international affairs.  We are self-sufficient in practically all critical nuclear technologies.  Most importantly, Russia is ready to balanced cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit and the interests of the involved parties,” – Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, Mikhail Lysenko.

“Iran is firm in its intention to develop nuclear energy. At the same time the country is ready to cooperate with the IAEA. We hope that sooner or later the sanctions against Iran will be weakened and removed completely. Largely for this reason Tehran has supported Moscow’s offer of a phased approach toward its nuclear program”, - Head of Research Institute of Iran and Eurasia, Mehdi Sanaei.

“Russia's support for the Syrian regime is not a tribute to the close friendship between Putin and Assad, not the fear of losing economic partner but the strategic considerations of the Kremlin. The collapse in Syria will mean a change in the balance of power and the loss of balance between the U.S. and Russia. The events in Libya have shown the true American goals in the region and the Kremlin obstinacy on Syria is an attempt to show to the West that Russia is still the second largest nuclear power, and not right to treat with her like a third-rate country”, - Head of Research Institute of Iran and Eurasia, Mehdi Sanaei.
