SEARCH IN PIR CENTER LIBRARY`S CATALOG
(in Russian only)

The PIR Center Arms Control Library was begun in July 1998 with generous contributions from the British Foreign Office and the Ford Foundation, augmented by the PIR Center's own financial resources.

The library collection consists largely of English and Russian materials as well as some resources in German, French, and Spanish. For the relevant search for the specific book, magazine or disk one can use PIR Center Library's new search engine. This engine could be accessed here. Please note that titles and other data on Library's items that are originally in Russian are provided without English translation.

As of October 1, 2001, the library includes:

  • Over 900 Books (scientific, reference, dissertations, and reports) covering 45 different topics;
  • Journals - 50 different journals and bulletins in Russian and 65 different periodicals in other languages, totaling almost 1,800 items. Also available are periodicals and other publications dating back to the PIR Center's inception in 1994;
  • Other archived information - Newspapers since 1994, covering a wide range of topics, and electronic information from the past five years covering 45 different topics;
  • Audio Records - 60 recordings of PIR conferences and seminars since 1997;
  • Video Records and CD-ROMs

At any given time, PIR Research Council and general staff members, partners in the scientific community, and others may use the library's vast collection of materials. A special effort is made to cater to young specialists and journalists. Senior students from Moscow universities (including MGIMO and MEPhI), leading Russian media correspondents and staff writers on foreign policy and military affairs, research associates from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), the Institute for American and Canadian Studies (ISKRAN), the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISI), and other academic centers and institutions in Moscow, as well as specialists from Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Tomsk often visit the library.

For quick access to the library's materials, one can use the PIR-Library Database, which has a modern search system.

Further information about the library can be obtained by calling 7-095-234-05-25 or e-mailing PIR Center's librarian Vitaly Fedchenko at fedchenko@pircenter.org.
