Ildar A. Akhtamzyan

Ildar A. Akhtamzyan

Ildar Akhtmzyan is a PIR Center Research Associate. Born in 1957, he graduated in 1979 from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has worked at the MGIMO since 1979: first as a post-graduate, then as a lecturer and senior lecturer, and recently as an Assistant Professor of the History of International Relations and the Foreign Policy of Russia. Dr Akhtamzyan defended his PhD thesis on "Problems of Arms Limitation in Soviet-US Relations (1969-1979)". He has participated in numerous international conferences and has lectured on nonproliferation (at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) and the History of International Relations (at the MGIMO). He is also the author of more than 30 publications in Russian and abroad - on the history of international relations, arms control and nonproliferation - including two compilations of documents on these issues..
