Dmitry D. Yakushkin

Dmitry D. Yakushkin is a former Press Secretary to the President of Russia and is a renowned expert in mass media, public relations, and democratization of civil society.

Dmitry Yakushkin was born on February 4, 1957. In 1979 he graduated from Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) with a major in 'international journalism'. From 1979 to 1989 he worked in the international department of Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. From 1986 to 1990 he was a chief of the Novosti Press Agency regional bureau in France. From 1990 to 1995 he was an observer and The Moscow News Editorial Board member. From 1995 to 1997 he was author and emcee of the program Double Portrait (VGTRK). In 1997 he served as editor of GEO magazine. From 1997 to 1998 he was emcee of the daily political program Details (VGTRK). From 1998 to 2000 he was Deputy to the President Office Head, as press secretary to the President of the Russian Federation.

Since 2002 he has been an Executive Director of the Russian-American Business Council.
