MISSILES AND OUTER SPACE

Missiles and Outer Space is information and analytical bulletin on nonproliferation of missiles and missile technologies. This is a unique newsletter in Russian dealing with nonproliferation of missiles and missile technologies in the CIS.

This quarterly newsletter comes out since July 2001 with the circulation of 500 copies. It is disseminated in Russia and the NIS (above all, in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine) among experts, policymakers, industrial community and businessmen.

The range of issues studied in the bulletin includes nonproliferation of missiles and missile technologies; international missile and aerospace projects; activities of the Strategic Missile Forces, the Russian Aerospace Agency, the National Space Agency of Ukraine; problems of missile defense (strategic and theater missile defenses); cooperation in exchange of data of early warning systems; MTCR, export control matters.

"International character of the bulletin enables it to give a comprehensive coverage of respective issues", said Marshal Igor Sergeyev, Presidential Aide on Strategic Stability Issues. The position of the editorial board and the PIR Center is reflected in the Editorial of every issue. "Analysis" section contains exclusive articles by leading experts in the area of missile nonproliferation. "Event" section informs the readers about statements and reports of the major seminars, conferences, workshops, and other events. "Information" section comprises reviews of the Russia, Ukrainian, Belarusian and other CIS media and exclusive information from members of the project team in these countries.

The newsletter is disseminated among policymakers and experts in Russia and the CIS, is read by the officials of the President's Office, the RF Security Council, the Defense Ministry and the Foreign Ministry, and other executive authorities. It is popular with Duma's deputies and staff, with specialists of the Russian missile and aerospace industry.

Missiles and Outer Space project is carried out within the "Nonproliferation and Russia" Program of the PIR Center together with the Research Center for Nonproliferation Problems (Ukraine), and Center for Nonproliferation Studies of the Monterey Institute of International Studies (USA).
