INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL ON GLOBAL SECURITY
The next International Summer School on Global Security for the Specialists from Russia and CIS organised by Center for Policy Studies (Russia) will be held on June 28 - July 10, 2009.
During the last three years the representatives from 12 CIS states including the specialists from Russian regional universities, government structures (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense), research institutes of CIS took part in education program.

The first week will be dedicated to the current global security problems, with a special emphasis on soft security. During the Global Security Week the following security challenges will be covered:
The second week will cover the WMD nonproliferation issues. The preliminary list of topics for Nonproliferation Week is the following:
- Nonproliferation Regime and NPT
- International Nonproliferation Regimes
- Multilateral Approaches to the Nuclear Fuel Cycle
- Regional Aspects of Nonproliferation Regime (North Korea, Iran)
- Renaissance of the Atomic Energy and Its Impact on the Nonproliferation Regime
- Role of International Organizations in Strengthening the Nonproliferation Regime
- New Trends in Nuclear Strategies and Doctrines
- Countering WMD Terrorism
Besides lectures, PIR Center experts will conduct a number of workshops and round table sessions to give the participants the opportunity to deliver their own research works as well as exchange their opinions on non-proliferation and soft security issues in which they are interested.
The selection of the participants is made on the competitive basis. The organizers cover living expenses for Summer School participants from the CIS countries, and provide them with the necessary materials and literature.
