Biography :

Ambassador Gérard Stoudmann studied law at the University of Lausanne and International Relations at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. At the beginning of career Gérard Stoudmann served as Personal Adviser to Jean-Pascal Delamuraz, President of the Swiss Confederation and Minister of Economy. Later Gérard Stoudmann was Managing Director of the St-Gallen Foundation for International Studies, University of St-Gallen and of the “St-Gallen International Management Symposium”. In 1997, Gérard Stoudmann was appointed Ambassador and elected Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Warsaw. Later he was Director of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. In 2006 Ambassador served as UN High Representative for the Elections in Cote d'Ivoire, an appointment by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. In 2009 - 2015 served as Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe for Organizational Development and Reform of the Organization. Honorary member (Membre d’Honneur) of the Centre russe detudes politiques.
